E-mail Print PDF

Each year Moodys Investor Services gives the City of Ottawa a credit rating. Moodys has confirmed the Citys Aaa debt rating and stable outlook which is the highest rating given by Moodys. The rating is based on a history of prudent financial management, low debt burden, strong reserve position and stable economic base.

Moody's Credit Rating Report

The report specifically notes the Citys success in generating strong fiscal outcomes over the past several years, fiscal discipline and a commitment to long-range financial planning. Moodys also notes that the Citys economic profile, which includes a large government presence and relatively low exposure to manufacturing employment, has mitigated the impact of the recession on the City. Maintaining the Aaa rating is important to the Citys debt financing activities to ensure that City debentures are eligible investments for as many investors as possible.
