Greetings

It is my great pleasure to have this opportunity to serve you as Councillor. Recognizing that not all residents supported my candidacy during the 2006 fall election, I want to assure those residents that I have laboured long and hard to gain your respect and future support.

Ward 21 is a very large ward with many diverse communities within communities. Regardless of community size or location, I pledge to represent you fairly at all times. As over the last 33 years, I am here to serve! I have demonstrated the importance of having experience and corporate knowledge when resolving difficult issues.

I firmly believe that "Communities ought to govern Communities on local issues," not City Hall. I believe that more can be accomplished through open dialogue based on respect, co-operation and trust than through confrontation.

I am pleased to be able to say that I have a strong and respectful working relationship with Mayor O'Brien and his Staff. My Council colleagues have been most supportive of my ward-based initiatives such as big ticket items i.e: purchase of Dickinson Square buildings, Nicolls Island funding and funding for the Van Vliet extension to Bridge St., Munster Community Centre expansion, and achieving $32.5 million in road works since amalgamation.

As a City Councillor and your elected representative, I shall continue to be involved in our communities and to serve all residents of the City of Ottawa with pride, integrity, and diligence.

With warmest regards,

Robert "Glenn" Brooks, Councillor
